9-1-1’ Season 7, Episode 4 Review: Buck’s Most Confounding Moments Yet

9-1-1’ Season 7, Episode 4 Review: Buck’s Most Confounding Moments Yet

This episode of 9-1-1 was very different than anything we’ve seen before. And that is saying something. 9-1-1 7×04 “Buck Bothered, and Bewildered” gave us a crossover with The Bachelor, some laughs, some heartbreak, and some confusion. Let’s review.

Buck and…. Tommy?

Let’s just start with the biggest thing that happened on 9-1-1 7×04 (which was shockingly not the appearance of Jesse Palmer): Buck is maybe… possibly… probably bisexual. Buck spent the entire episode jealous of Eddie hanging out with Tommy instead of him. It was cute seeing Buck upset over losing his best friend. But here’s where it gets confusing: when Tommy shows up, Buck tell him he was trying to get his attention? No, we’re pretty sure Buck was trying to get Eddie’s attention.

But we digress. It wasn’t like Tommy and Buck didn’t have chemistry. We knew they were going to kiss seeing how they kept walking closer and closer to each other during their conversation. We’re interested to see where this goes. Will this lead to Buck realizing he likes Eddie? We’ll see. As long as Buck and Eddie still stay best friends, and Buck doesn’t injure him anymore (maybe Buck should just stay away from basketball in general), we’ll be fine.

Here for the Right Reasons

Having 9-1-1 crossover with The Bachelor was not on our bingo cards for 2024. But we loved it. It was hilarious seeing Maddie and Josh so excited over talking to Jesse Palmer, and having Chim show them what was happening on his phone. The writers really killed it on capturing the spirit of The Bachelor. “Here for the right reasons” was mentioned several times and having Bailey glue herself to the set because she was “stuck” on the bachelor? Brilliant.

We know this crossover was probably done since it was the show’s 100th episode, but we wouldn’t say no to more crossovers with The Bachelor… or maybe The Rookie or Grey’s Anatomy? So many possibilities.

Other Thoughts:

  • Harry’s back! And while it wasn’t under the happiest circumstances, we’re glad to see him (even with a new face). The conversations he had with Athena were important. We’re glad he has Athena for advice and to hear things that he might not want to hear. She’s the best mom.
  • The story of the lady who shot her son because she didn’t recognize him was heartbreaking. We knew that it was going to destroy her, and we were right. How do you move forward after something like that happens? How is she going to forgive herself for killing her son?
  • “You Bucked that up” might be the best quote ever.
  • “Guess someone’s going into the sewer.” “I’m going into the sewer aren’t I?” Yep, Ravi, you are.
    • “She has anthrax. Or glitter”. We laughed so hard at this. It was perfect.
