Check Out Caitlin Clark’s Amazing Butter Sculpture at the Iowa State Fair!

Caitlin Clark is an Iowa legend, both for the Hawkeyes and, as a native daughter, the entire state. And for all the she’s done — and continues to do — to represent her home state, Clark got a supreme honor for the second year running.

At the 2024 Iowa State Fair, Clark’s likeness is on display in the form of a butter sculpture, which are a staple of the festivities. The sculpture depicts Clark in her Iowa No. 22 jersey, with a basketball in her right hand.

All things considered, it’s a pretty striking likeness of the star Hawkeye, especially when considering the medium is oil on canvas or wax, but sculpted from churned dairy fat and protein. It’s also an improvement from the 2023 edition.

It’s also potentially a disappointment to learn, but the butter sculptures common to state fairs across the Midwest are not commonly made from solid butter. They are usually made by sculpting a layer of butter over a rough mesh or wire frame of the intended final form.

But even still, to be cast anew in butter at the state fair remains among the high honors that Iowans can receive. Just another accolade for Clark to add to her trophy cabinet.

Clark recently gave back to some Iowa kids

With the WNBA on break due to the Paris Olympics, Clark had some free time. She used that time to give back to kids in her community in Iowa.

Clark surprised 350 kids in the Des Moines area with school supplies and a new Nike bookbag on Friday. Keith Murphy was on hand to capture the moment, which was made possible by the Caitlin Clark foundation.

Caitlin Clark has enjoyed plenty of success during her rookie season in the WNBA. She was drafted No. 1 overall in the WNBA draft following one of the best college careers of all-time.

The former Iowa star is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game as the Fever are currently 11-15, which is the seventh-best record in the league.

Clark has always been one to give back, doing so through The Caitlin Clark Foundation. The website says this about the foundation:

“Caitlin’s passion and joy on the court inspire her foundation’s work off the court. The Caitlin Clark Foundation’s mission is to uplift and improve the lives of youth and their communities through education, nutrition, and sports—three pillars Caitlin believes were foundational in her success.”
