Home and Away legend confirms future plans after filming final scenes

Home and Away legend Lynne McGranger has opened up about her future plans after filming her final scenes.

It was confirmed last month that McGranger had officially filmed her final scenes as Irene Roberts, a character she has played on the Australian soap since 1993.

The actor swapped the screen for the stage last year with a role in Cruising with the Grandparents Club, and she hopes to do more theatre in the future now that she’s wrapped on Home and Away.

“It has been in the back of my mind for so long, so to get back to where I started – in theatre – has been amazing,” she shared during a new interview with Woman’s Day.

“Doing Grandparents Club last year really solidified my decision to leave Home And Away as well. I will miss it so much though.”

“I am very excited to do more theatre and just be able to do more in general,” she continued.

“Isn’t The Voice looking for a new mentor? And I can kind of see myself on the news desk.

“All jokes aside, this does open up a lot more opportunities for me. I’d love to maybe do some comedy and just be adventurous!”

The soap star filmed her final Home and Away scenes at the Pier Diner last month, before thanking the crew and her fellow cast members.

“This show is made up of so many parts,” she said. “You’re all amazing, and it’s been my great privilege to work with each and every one of you. I’m touched, I’m humbled and I’m so honoured. Thank you so much.”
