Shock, hope, and countless questions! The star of “Home and Away” shares about the crucial next step after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Alea O’Shea got the heartbreaking and terrifying diagnosis in November 2025.

A former Home and Away star has revealed a heartwarming update less than a year after her cancer diagnosis.
Alea O’Shea, who played Darcy Callahan on the popular Channel 7 show, first noticed something was wrong after her smile became uneven and she had difficulty speaking.
Within weeks, the 25-year-old was told by doctors she had brain cancer.
Alea went through six weeks of radiation and oral chemotherapy, as well as surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible.
She told Yahoo Lifestyle that it’s been a big success, and life has started to return to normal.
“I’m going pretty well,” Alea said on the red carpet premiere of Prime Video’s Elle series.
I’ve definitely stabilised a lot in the past few months, which has been incredible.
“I’m so grateful to be able to come to these things again.”
After going public with her cancer diagnosis in November, the world rallied around her in a big way.
A GoFundMe was launched, and nearly $100,000 was raised to help her and her family with the “financial burden” of fighting cancer.
More than 600 people donated to the cause, and many cheered her on from the sidelines in the hope she would get better.

Alea starts foundation to help women with cancer
While Alea has been through something unimaginable, she has put her energy and profile into launching the Because I Ceare foundation.
It helps people going through hair loss to secure wigs, which can cost up to $2,000 or more.
“Because I Ceare is going well,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“We have five girls who have wigs now, and I’m just waiting on them all to send me pictures.”
