‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Reveals ‘Hideous’ Christmas Gift She Received

Camilla Luddington has revealed she once received a “hideous” Christmas present from a previous partner. The Grey’s Anatomy star plays Dr. Josephine “Jo” Wilson in the ABC series, having joined the cast in 2012. She hosts the podcast Call It What It Is alongside her friend and former Grey’s Anatomy actor Jessica Capshaw. Capshaw played pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins, but left in March 2018 after starring in 11 seasons of the hit show.

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Gave Thanksgiving Guests Food Poisoning During the podcast episode Call It Short & Sweet: Grandma’s Gifts Gone Wild, released on December 2, the two actors discussed weird and unusual Christmas presents. Luddington used the opportunity to speak about how much she disliked a gift from an ex-boyfriend. Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Luddington for comment on Thursday. “I had an ex-boyfriend, person I was dating, give me the most hideous piece of jewelry ever. I mean, it looked like it was, you know, probably a relic and perhaps possessed… something even your grandma’s like ‘ew,’ do you know what I mean? Like she’s selling it,” she said. The actor went on to explain that the piece of jewelry was “chunky” and he told he that he purchased it at an estate sale, which she didn’t believe. Luddington continued: “I wish he had because maybe it would have been cheap, but I think he spent a little money on it. I mean, maybe not. “What I don’t like, and I will say this, I’m not like super into the stones that are just not super precious. I know that sounds snobby, and I’m gonna embrace it.” As Capshaw laughed, Luddington added: “I know what it sounds like … I’m calling it what it is, this is one of my Achilles’ heels … If I get a ring and it has a giant, weird, marbly opal, greeny situation chunkin’ in the middle of it, that’s not seeing the light of day. That’s at the back of the drawer.” As the holiday season draws nearer, the two women have been discussing Christmas topics on the podcast. During the episode released on November 25, Luddington revealed that she would get so “ferocious” about choosing a Christmas tree every year that she had to give up the tradition. “I’m ferocious about getting a tree. I like a very specific shape, a very specific needle,” she began. “I’m smelling, I’m touching, I’m whispering to it like an insane person. Me picking out a Christmas tree on a Christmas tree lot is a military operation.” Luddington said she instructs her husband, fellow actor Matthew Alan, to move the tree around so she can see it from every angle. “So, it honestly was so stressful for me that I ordered a [fake] tree and so now I’m not stressed,” she explained. The actor described how “that bad boy sits in our very cozy garage,” adding: “I would literally be on the floor like I had a nervous breakdown…So now I have a fake tree that looks beautiful.” Capshaw admitted that she might have once had a problem with someone having a fake tree in their house, but that was no longer the case because “current Jessica has evolved.” “Current Jessica would say, ‘I think that’s actually great, because you’re not killing a tree,'” she said on the podcast.
