BBC announces huge new dating show to rival Love Island and MAFS UK – and it’s set in stunning location

The show comes from the makers of Love Is Blind and MAFS UK

THE BBC is working on an explosive new dating format which looks set to blow Love Island and MAFS out of the water.

The broadcaster has confirmed that its brand new show, Stranded on Honeymoon Island, will be arriving in early 2025.

In an exciting new format, 12 singletons will find themselves stranded on a deserted island in a bid to finally find love.

The unlucky Brits will be hoping that time away from civilisation could help them to find the partner of their dreams but will the course to finding true love really run smoothly.

In a huge boost to the BBC, the programme is being created by the same team behind current dating show juggernauts Love Is Blind UK and Married At First Sight.

As part of the programme, a series of experts will match the twelve contestants into six couples to see if true love can blossom and survive.

Not only will they be battling their growing feelings, the brand new couples will also have the force of nature to contend with and adapting to living without any form of luxuries.

With little resources, will the couples focus on finding love or attempt to fend for themselves?

The show will also see if being away from the complexities of modern life will help or hinder the path to love.

Stranded on Honeymoon Island will make its debut on BBC One and BBC iPlayer early next year with the programme having already become a hit in Europe.

It will consist of 12 hour-long episodes with the Beeb hoping it gives Love Island a run for its money.

The show debuted in Belgium and has already seen editions produced in Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands as well as having been commissioned Down Under.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, the Head of Entertainment for the BBC, said of commissioning the show: “We are thrilled to be bringing this dating reality format to the BBC.

“This unique new dating series will see couples who have previously been unlucky in love being paired up and sent straight on their honeymoon with no phone, no apps and no contact with the outside world – let’s see if they can make it work on their desert island and find love.”

Murray Boland, the Creative Director of the show’s proudction company, CPL, added:  “We are incredibly excited to be bringing this show to the BBC.

“It’s a bold and innovative format but it also has heart and soul.
