Shock in “Home and Away”! Alf finally gets closer to the truth behind the mysterious hit-and-run, but the heartbreaking discovery will shatter him

Home and Away will air a bittersweet breakthrough for Alf Stewart this week, following his recent hit-and-run mystery. When new evidence comes to light, Alf is finally absolved of the crime. But according to TV Week, he’s in no mood to celebrate.

In recent episodes, Alf became the prime suspect for a shocking car accident that left Abigail Fowler injured on the roadside. With his car matching the description of the offending vehicle, Alf struggled to prove his innocence to the police.

It wasn’t long before word spread around the Bay, with everyone – including his own daughter Roo – believing he was responsible. But after weeks of inner turmoil, upcoming episodes will see Alf vindicated.

At the start of the week, Alf is feeling dejected, despite the police ruling him out as a suspect. Though he knows he didn’t do it, the disdain from his friends and neighbours takes its toll and he starts to question if he was responsible after all.

Later, Sergeant David Langham arrives at the house to update Alf on the case – though there hasn’t been much progress. He apologises for the damage to Alf’s reputation and suggests he makes a formal complaint which will lead to an internal investigation.

Meanwhile, Justin Morgan is called to help fix a car that has broken down nearby. When he arrives on the scene, he notices its similarity to Alf’s car and sees the shattered side mirror.

The mechanic manages to connect the dots, and quietly contacts the police who turn up moments later. After inspecting the car, David determines there’s enough evidence to take owner Carmen into custody.

At the station, the police finally get a breakthrough on their investigation as Carmen takes full responsibility for the incident. She insists it was a complete accident and that she didn’t realise she had hit anyone as it was so dark.

While Alf’s friends and family are delighted that the culprit has been found, Alf is still upset about the whole situation and the fact that his loved ones didn’t trust him. When Roo points out that he should be celebrating, he lashes out about her betrayal, leaving her stunned and embarrassed.

Will they be able to put things behind them, or does Roo have some serious making up to do?
