Love Island shocks fans as “least compatible” couple gets dumped

It’s goodbye for one pair.

Love Island spoilers follow.

Tonight’s (July 24) Love Island shocked the Islanders, as the least compatible couple was voted off the show.

During the public vote, Grace Jackson and Reuben Collins were deemed the couple who were least likely to work on the outside and were therefore dumped off the island.

The episode had got off to a bumpy start as the show’s talent contest led to a heated row between Sean Stone and Josh Oyinsan. What Sean thought was a “sweet roast” didn’t sit well with Josh, who was hurt about his co-star’s comments about his partner Mimii Ngulube’s bond with Ayo Odukoya.

Sitting down at the fire pit, Sean began by acknowledging: “Obviously, after that, tension’s pretty high…”

Josh admitted not liking being compared to a sour dummy, saying: “I just felt like it was a little bit uncalled for. Ideally, I’d have preferred for you to not make a comment about such a touchy subject.”

“I didn’t think it would spark this much of a reaction,” Sean offered, to which Josh replied: “Honestly, if it’s a thing where this is you apologising, I don’t feel like taking it, to be honest… I don’t think it’s sincere… I’m just fed up.”

While Mimii watched on in apprehension, Joey Essex and Ayo tried to smooth things over between Sean and Josh to little avail.

Fans of the show sided with Josh on Twitter/X, with one person noting he was calm despite the uncomfortable situation.

“why are they acting like Josh is shouting up and down the villa he’s so calm and they keep acting like he’s so loud and aggressive”.

Viewers were also frustrated with Sean insisting it was just “banter” about a situation he thought had been “buried” and defended Josh’s rightful reaction.

“Why did you only do it to Josh and Mimi though? Where was your roast for everyone else??” one person wrote referring to Sean’s act, while another commented: “oh sean’s getting worked up and that’s fine but when josh rightfully gets worked up it’s not deep get them off the show please.”

With tension at an all-time high, a text rocked the Islanders further when it was announced the public had voted on the least compatible couples.

While Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel were praised as the most genuine match, there was an argument about who the public thought was staying together purely to get to the final, with Grace and Reuben taking the top spot.

Finally, Grace and Reuben were voted the least compatible to work on the outside, with Joey and Jessy Potts voted second and Ayo and Jess Spencer in third place.

Despite Grace being eager to “prove [them] wrong,” she and Reuben were brutally eliminated in a last-minute twist.

The unexpected elimination resonated with viewers, leaving Grace’s fans puzzled. “I loved grace sm I’m so annoyed,” one person wrote.

Speaking about her exit, Grace said she’s got what she joined the show for as she opened up on her connection with Reuben.

“I feel good about leaving the villa. It’s been a rocky road, but I’m pleased with how I handled everything as gracefully as I possibly could. It’s been an incredible experience, and I’ve loved every second of it,” she said. “I’m leaving with what I came in for with Reuben, and to make it to the final week with all of the other Islanders is amazing.”
