Shocking Update: Home and Away Spoilers: Roo’s Secret Plan for Alf’s New Bait Shop!

After 17 years at Flat Beach Wharf, Alf is forced to vacate his bait shop when the landlord hikes the rent to nearly double the previous rate. With no room for negotiation, Alf suspects they just want him out and,

feeling defeated, decides not to fight it. Roo, however, refuses to give up. She pens an article for Coastal News highlighting Alf’s dedication to the community, rallying local support.

While it doesn’t change the landlord’s decision, it reignites Alf’s determination to relocate rather than close for good. But finding a suitable location proves challenging, with nearby properties demanding equally high rents.

As Alf shares his struggles with Marilyn, she remains hopeful, but he is less optimistic, convinced he is fighting a losing battle.

Alf eventually reaches a breaking point, declaring he’s done with the search. As he prepares closure signs, he receives bad news: an upcoming gala event for the board shop is canceled due to an advertising issue. However, Molly’s optimism about the board shop bouncing back sparks an idea in Alf. Standing in the middle of the Caravan Park, he realizes the perfect location has been right in front of him all along.

Roo supports the plan but is skeptical about using the old storage shed. Alf insists it will work, needing only a simple space to sell bait and tackle. That evening, Roo gathers Leah and Justin to discuss the move, but she secretly explores better options, obtaining quotes for a purpose-built unit. Alf, overwhelmed by the rapid developments, expresses frustration and retreats for the night.

The next morning, Alf locks up the bait shop for the final time. Though he puts on a brave face, Marilyn senses his hidden sadness. Meanwhile, Bree, feeling guilty about Alf’s string of misfortunes—starting with his near-death experience at the hospital—wonders how she and Remi can help.

Later, Roo reviews shed quotes, but Alf balks at the hefty price tag, insisting on repurposing the old shed instead. When Bree and Remi offer to assist, Roo explains the only obstacle is Alf’s reluctance to spend on a new build. Surprisingly, Remi offers to cover the costs using his recent financial windfall. Though tempted, Roo initially declines, feeling uncomfortable due to her past issues with Bree. However, when she catches Alf reconsidering the quotes he had thrown away, she realizes he may be hiding his true feelings.

Determined to make it work, Roo secretly accepts Remi’s offer and devises a plan with Justin, John, Marilyn, and Leah to build a new shop without Alf knowing. The group jumps into action, with the men starting construction at the Caravan Park the next morning while Marilyn distracts Alf—an increasingly difficult task given her aversion to lying.

Leah assists by fabricating reasons to keep Alf occupied, but he grows suspicious. Just when they think they’ve successfully misled him, Alf secretly follows them to the site, watching from a distance. Will he confront them or let the surprise unfold?
