Home and Away star Lynne McGranger shares heartfelt update after major surgery
A beloved Home and Away star has taken to social media to provide an update following a recent bout in hospital.
Lynne McGranger, known for her decades-long portrayal of Irene Roberts on Seven’s flagship soap Home and Away, underwent surgery less than a week ago to address a “toxic overactive thyroid”.
McGranger shared the news of her hospital visit to her 200k Instagram followers on Tuesday, revealing the surgery was “a long time coming”.

The 71-year-old said she and her toxic thyroid were “incompatible”.
“Quite frankly I was exhausted,” she said in a post.

An overactive thyroid can cause a rapid or irregular heartbeat, sweating and irritability, as well as fatigue and muscle weakness.
After undergoing the major surgical procedure at Mater Hospital in North Sydney, McGranger thanked the hospital staff for their level of care, saying they made the “giant life step so much easier than it might have been”.
“The nurses, doctors, specialists, anaesthetists, the admin staff, the lady who greeted me on arrival, the lady who bid me farewell. With special mention to Prof Sidhu, Dr Michael Morris, Annie, Anna, Karen and Kenny (sorry about the vom),” she wrote.
“Could not recommend The Mater more highly- what an exceptional example of health care done right!’
