Caitlin Clark’s exclusion from the Team USA women’s basketball team for the Paris Olympics was a highly controversial decision. However, the rising star has big plans for her unexpected break.
“I’m gonna try to play more golf over the break, honestly,” she told reporters on Tuesday. “I haven’t been out there yet this year, so I’ve got new clubs that I’ve got to break in, see how they swing. So hopefully get out there later this week.”
Clark also mentioned the possibility of golfing with her teammates. “I think a decent amount of people actually play,” she said. “We can get them into it.”
This break might be the last one Clark will have for many years as she continues to build her impressive basketball career. The favorite to win Rookie of the Year, Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 8.2 assists, and 5.8 rebounds this season. Her transition to the WNBA has been smooth, following her legendary college career.
While the decision to leave Clark out of the Olympic team remains contentious, her focus on golf during this break highlights her versatility and ability to find balance amidst a demanding career. As she looks forward to improving her golf game, fans and analysts alike anticipate her continued rise in the WNBA and her inevitable future contributions to Team USA in upcoming international competitions.
