The Indiana Fever rookie will have a long break before the WNBA returns to action next month.

Caitlin Clark’s omission from Team USA could end up being a blessing in disguise for the Indiana Fever rookie.

A resurfaced video from the All-Star break showed Clark in apparent discomfort as she took a shot in warm-ups. In the clip, Clark starts to attempt a shot before stopping, taking a dribble and putting up a shot. After the shot, Clark grimaced and looked at her right hand.

“Caitlin Clark appeared to have some discomfort in her hand leading up to the All Star game,” the Clark Report account posted on X along with a video of Clark’s shot. “If it’s a lingering issue that had affected her shooting hopefully the break gives her time to recover”

Some fans expressed worry that Clark’s long stretch of basketball without a break, dating back to the start of the 2023-24 NCAA season and leading directly into her WNBA rookie season with little chance to rest, may be taking a toll on her.

“She’s been playing way too long. In a way not doing to Olympics does her a favor,” a fan wrote on X. “I can’t imagine the exhaustion.”

Clark will now have an extended break. After being left off the U.S. women’s basketball team roster, she will not return to the floor until the Fever play again on August 16.
