EXCLUSIVE: Home and Away’s Kyle Schilling says Levi’s brush with death is only the beginning for this friend group
The residents of Summer Bay haven’t been able to catch a break recently as the latest plotlines of Home and Away have left the lives of fan-favourite characters hanging in the balance.
On July 23, Levi’s life (literally) hung in the balance after a fall from a cliff left his friends Cash and Mali scrambling to save him and get help.
Kyle Schilling (Mali) spoke to WHO about the “gruelling” reality of filming scenes as physically and mentally challenging as this, explaining how the whole experience left him “rattled”.
After a week’s break, Home and Away returned, and rather than getting answers, audiences were left with even more questions.
After Levi gained consciousness, his arm was still trapped beneath a rock, leaving Cash with the choice to break his arm or leave him stranded.
As fans hope that the boys’ quick decisions save Levi’s life, Schilling revealed how this was only the beginning for this friend group.
Levi’s fall was only the beginning
When chatting about what’s ahead for Schilling’s character, he teased that “there is definitely an exciting storyline” to come, with the drama far from ending just because the fall itself has happened.
“I think just out of all of this – the severity of everyone in and around Mali’s friend group in the show – things even pick up for them as well,” he said. “Without saying too much, I think people should be excited to see what’s in store for Mali next.”
If you thought the latest cliffhanger was already enough for this friend group to manage, think again.
‘We’re like family’
Behind the scenes, Schilling spoke about how the cast are “all mates”, something they all need to survive filming scenarios as intense as this one.
“We’re all one big family and everyone does get along,” he said. “I’ve got my own group of friends outside of work, which always helps because then you’re not stepping on each other’s toes all the time — working together, hanging out together.
“I think that’s a great dynamic. I think that really helps because it keeps things fresh. When you don’t work with each other for such a long time, at least you’re not hanging out all the time, and I mean, that’s my view. That’s how I like to work.”
Schilling added: “At the end of the day, we all got along really well [when filming] and we all really pushed each other and complimented each other throughout the whole storyline.”
